The creation of a Warlords server

Hi all

I am currently looking at creating a server and not made the final desission on what game to have .

I am looking mainly at COD and all version's of COD and would like to have your input on what its going to be ie:
COD, UO, COD2 or COD4 ranked/unranked or multi mode and to keep costs down it will start out as a 14 to 16
player server with only basic mods and maps to start with depnding on what game we go for.

Anyway guys keep an eye on this space for the ip address but I need your input first befor starting this up.

what about ut 3 thats a good game m8
but if we go cod we cant go cod1 thats getting too old may be cod2 with rotation from death match to team death to capture the flag thingy
or halo
something different from what were used to may be a good idea

Thanks m8 I will be looking at ut 3 next week as I will be getting a copy and I agree cod 1 is a bit old now as for cod 2 yes i will look at this as the same as cod 4 as a multi mode multi game type server as 3 round per game type rotation and ys halo is anouther option and at the moment i am talking to 1 of the gsp's about a test server that will run between 3 different games for a couple of months to find out what way we want to go I am just waiting to see what they say and how much it will cost first.

what about a poker night
lets say once a month and a 5 pound buy in
is there any way we can do this

intresting could b a laugh and there are ways to do a poker night i will look though my games as got loads of card games there and some are on line jobs

I am looking at a mutli mode cod 4 server all game types with a restting ranking system ie: you leave and rejoin
you start all over again but every one gets the all the perks from the start but gain a rank you gain an air strike
just wating to hear for the gsp about this if they can do this.

Run one from your own pc i do ,But lags alot i have been playing cod 4 on quite a few servers now i may even start a server with Jolt they seem quite good

Well as of the 27th of this month we will have a small cod server called MARTIAL LAW i will post the details later

New server sounds good and Brett got the best idea > Lets get away from just the tdm version. personally i think it does get rather tedious at times. Capture the flag is ok with more that 10 players also there was a behind enemy lines that was rather cool at the time. If the server payment is goin gto be an issue i dont mind chipping in fellas .Tiger

Hi Pete me and Brett had a chat about a server the other night and Brett has found a reasonable server for COD 4 or COD 5 the server would have at least 20 slots, and if all in the community are interested we could get it up and running in the new year or sooner as for the cost help would be most welcome and if all forum members where to contribute to it it will mean a lot and would cost each member £8 a year for the basic server, I will look into what other costs are involved in having a modded server as some gsp's charge for this service and also having dedicated member slots can also bump up the cost of the server

I to like the idea of different games types and would more than likely take the auto rotation route on this, say 4 games of each game type with 4 or 5 game types, doing it on a auto rotation will also keep the dick heads from constantly voting on game type.

The other issue is modding the server and ranked or unranked, I don't care about the ranking side of it it can be on or of but as for mods I would like to keep this side to a minimum, yes have some basic weapon mods and other basic mods of this type, but also have some new maps but i don't want to be in the position of spending half an hour to an hour downloading maps and mods and will look into having the mods as the only main download and the maps only down load as needed if possible.

Feel free to add to this if there is any other things you would like to see for the server if we go ahead with it.

Sounds good Guyver will have a look when your ready just goto sort my g card out as for renting one let me get the numbers crunched, But i need to know how many will be willing contribute to it first so I can work out how much each will pay for a years rental.

At the moment if all ten members contribute we are looking at £ 9.65 each for the year for a basic server to £18 a year for a more advanced server and this could be lower of high depending on what we want this also applies to the basic server if only a few of us decided to go ahead with it, so guys I need to know who's in or not.

I am looking a jolt or rampage as gsp both of which I have dealt with before and both offer good services at a reasonable price .

Sounds great this new set up. Different games will certainly liven things up a little. dont get me wrong i love all versions of call of duty but the constant tdm gets me wound up so much.. Server is running but having issues with punk buster and i have posted a note on their forum as soon as i get a resonse the server will be open its stock for ten players

Hi Guyver its probably best to deactivate PB as they seem to have chucked it in as an after thought rather than building it into the game any way hope you get it sorted.
